Thank you for The Pain    by Kara Rice

You suffered very much for me
You gave me forgiveness without a fee
I never really did it before,
but I want to thank you for the pain you bore.

As I read of that pain in Your Word,
I see some things that I have never heard.
Soldiers smiling as into Your flesh they tore
I thank you for the pain that You bore

I feel as if that pain was my fault.
This is a feeling I want to lock in a vault
It is my sin that comes yelling for more
Oh Lord, thank you for the pain You bore

Jesus, if only I could take Your place
Then there would be no need for the blood on Your Face
There would be no need for that awful gore
Thank you, so much, for the pain that You bore.

The Letter Undelivered
   by Jessica Hise

Dear Grandfather,

How many times have I dreamt I'd known you,
But then I'd be feeling more pain,
How many times have I wished you hadn't smoked,
So you'd be by my side today,
How many times have I prayed you were a Christian,
So I could see you in person one day,
How many times have I cried,
Thinking you were not,
How many times have I dreamed, wished, and prayed,
That you were still alive.

Love,
Your Granddaughter,
Jessuca A. Hise

*When Rachel asked me to read her poem, she said, "It's kinda sad..."  I'm glad she gave me
the warning, because it's really sad.  The way she evokes emotion through her poetry is brilliant!  Just remember, as you read along, that we have a future home to look forward to. Enjoy!

Little Child in the Night

There, there my little child
Crying in the night.
I'll wipe away your tears for you,
And be here when you wake.

Sleep, sleep my little child
Close your little eyes.
Rest your head, now,
God to bed now,
I'll be here when you wake.

Dream, dream my little child
Of angels in the sky.
Showing praise, in all ways
I'll be here when you wake.

Wake wake my little child
Did you have a pleasant sleep,
I was praying for you all night long
But, he didn't make a peep.

Why, why my Lord of All
This pains me so.
Wby, why my Lord of All
Did you have to let him go.
He was my dream, he was my life
He gave me reason to live.
Now he's gone, and from now on
I will never be the same.

Hold him, hold him in your arms
Rock him into sleep.
Let him know, I'll never go.
And he dwells in my spirit within.

*  You may not believe me when I tell you that this one was written by Jacob Spradling (8th grader).  Yes, boys can write poetry, too!  As you'll see, there's a lot of truth to this one.

Best Friends by Jacob Spradling

Best friends can be awesome
but you must treat them with caution
if you don't, you will lose them
and you will feel some exclusion.
You don't want that to happen
or your enemies will be clappin
So you should cherish them
with all your might
and don't let them out of sight
If you do, they will get lost
so hold on to them at all cost
you will lose them if you don't keep in touch
So you should love them oh so much.

*I love this one by Jessica Hise (7th grader).  It is actually a song, and reminds me of Larry Norman's "I Wish We'd All Been Ready."  (your parents may know who he is:)

Coming
  by Jessica Hise (7th gr.)
Guess who's coming,
He's coming back
If I were you I'd begin to pack,
He's coming to take us,
Everyone,
Some to down there,
And some to heaven.

**Chorus:
God is coming back,
He knows who you are,
Where you've been,
What you've done,
If you've accepted His Salvation
You'll be with Him, too.
It's true.

There's no map you could buy,
No price you could pay,
There's only one way.
Accept Him today,
Jesus is the one who'll set you free,
Just believe in the Son
and you will see that
*Chorus

But if you haven't
I'm sorry to say,
That on that last day,
Go to heaven there isn't a way.
Hurry decide now,
He's coming soon,
 I't snever too late
To Him please swoon,
*Chorus

But if you haven't
I'm sorry ot say,
That on that last day
Go to heaven there isn't a way
But now at present
There is one way
Jesus is the one
Who'll set you free,
Just believe in the Son,
And you will see that
*Chorus

Only you can make it true for you.
